Lamina specialises in the extrusion of melt-processable fluoropolymer materials, producing ETFE tubing products for demanding applications across multiple industries. Our bore sizes range from 0.125mm to 16.0mm, with close-tolerance products available for specialist requirements.

ETFE (Ethylene TetraFluoroEthylene) extruded tubing is prized for its excellent mechanical strength, chemical inertness, and resistance to high temperatures and UV radiation. It is regarded as a tougher, higher-strength alternative to traditional fluoropolymers like PTFE, while offering comparable chemical resistance and excellent performance in harsh conditions. Products may be supplied on continuous reel or cut to length, in both tube and lay-flat sleeve form.

Key Benefits

  • High mechanical strength — tougher than PTFE with excellent impact and abrasion resistance
  • Broad chemical resistance — resistant to corrosive chemicals, acids, bases, and solvents
  • High temperature performance — stable across a wide continuous working temperature range
  • Excellent electrical properties — high dielectric strength and flame resistance
  • UV and weather resistance — does not degrade in outdoor or radiation-exposed environments
  • Biocompatible — suitable for sterilisation via gamma irradiation and autoclaving
  • Non-stick surface — smooth interior facilitates flow and prevents material build-up
  • Low permeability — ideal for air sampling and sensitive instrumentation
  • Lightweight — well suited to weight-critical aerospace and automotive applications
  • Coloured grades available

Industrial and Chemical Processing

Fluid Transfer

ETFE tubing is used for transporting highly corrosive chemicals, acids, bases, and solvents, owing to its broad chemical resistance and high pressure rating.

Pipe Linings

Used as a durable, non-stick lining for pipes, fittings, and pump housings in chemically aggressive environments, preventing corrosion and contamination.

Gas and Liquid Analysis

Employed in sensitive instrumentation in life sciences and industrial applications for precise gas and liquid analysis.

Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Wire and Cable Insulation

Providing insulation and jacketing for wires and cables, including airframe wire and motor lead wires, due to its excellent dielectric properties and flame resistance.

Heat Shrink Sleeving

Used as heat-shrinkable tubing for insulation and protection in critical areas, owing to its chemical resistance and thermal stability.

Conduit Systems

Convoluted ETFE tubing serves as a flexible conduit to protect wires and fibre optics from physical damage and environmental factors.

Automotive and Aerospace

Fluid Systems

Used in aircraft fluid systems, fuel lines, brake systems, and power steering for its resistance to petroleum, fuels, and temperature extremes.

Wiring Harnesses

Providing protective jacketing for wiring harnesses due to its light weight, mechanical toughness, and abrasion resistance.

Medical and Laboratory

Medical Devices

Its biocompatibility and sterilisability make it suitable for components such as catheters, oxygen respirator parts, and blood analyser valves.

Labware

Used for items such as centrifuge tubes and evaporating dishes due to its chemical inertness and non-toxic properties.

Further Applications

Air Sampling Technologies

Low permeability and resistance to caustic liquids and gases make ETFE ideal for instrumentation supporting air sampling.

Non-stick Surfaces

The smooth, non-stick surface facilitates wire feeding through channels and is used in applications such as laser printer rollers to prevent build-up.

Other Products

A focused range of precision-engineered insulation products, each developed to meet the exacting standards of the industries we serve.

Bolt Insulation

Imperial and metric bolt insulation tubes in Mylar and Nomex, designed to prevent galvanic corrosion, electrical hazards, and heat transfer in pipeline flange connections across oil and gas, chemical processing, and power generation.
